If it's about 'bouncebackability', we certainly lacked it today! It felt like a return to November; scrappy, disjointed and a performance lacking any flow or togetherness.
A new trio in midfield found it hard positionally, to get to grips with the game today, they were 'missed out' both when we attacked and when we needed to defend and this seemed to disrupt any spell of passing we tried to put together. We really had to wait until the final quarter of the game, when we piled three up front, to see us create any real opportunities or start to put a physical and direct Crook team under any sort of pressure.
Crook scored first in the 24th min through Olusoga when the ball was lost in midfield and he broke to score. Horden equalised quickly on 29 minutes through Roy Allen from a neat passing move. Right on half time Bone's free kick for Crook struck the killer blow finding Andrew Rafferty in no-mans land and lobbing him at the back post. Horden failed to respond but had chances in the dying part of the game through Jonathan Monaghan, Darren Atkinson and Craig Hubbard. Final score 1-2, far from the entertaining football we have got used to. A must win game next Saturday - a test of our mettle maybe!?
