Once again it’s all change on the Management front and the committee welcomed Simon Corbett as Caretaker Manager with Glenn Moan as Assistant. This was to be another game of two halves. Norton took the lead after only 36 seconds when an opportunist strike on a greasy sur-face caused Andrew Rafferty to spill the ball into his own net, 0-1. It was a shaky start from both teams and Horden had their chances in the 21st (Chris Pearson), 27th (Afolabi Shekoni to Darren Atkinson) and 32nd (Simon Millington) before Norton got their second goal of the night through a Corbett headed shot, half time, 0-2.
The half time briefing must have been effective as a different team emerged from the dressing room. Andy Allen finished after some nice tidy play and the cross drew the keeper for him to side foot home in the 47th minute, 1-2. In the 72nd minute Roy Allen had a good chance from a ball floated into the area by Atkinson and then Pearson enjoyed a charge forward and a good shot well saved in the 79th. Horden still had hope to the end, particularly when new signing Simon Millington drilled a ball forward for Alan Hoey who beat the keeper but then screwed the shot wide in the 85th minute. The equaliser - though probably deserved - was not to be, but a more positive performance, particularly in the second half showed more character and heart from the 12 men used. Final score 1-2.
