Horden were hoping that Whickham Fellside would not be able to do the double after winning 3-1 earlier in the season. Sundays' away performance was outstanding and began in the third minute when Joe Mence opened the scoring account. Rob Taylor added another two on 24 minutes and 44 minutes securing a comfortable 0-3 half time lead for Horden
Within a minute of the start of the second half Martin Fowler made it four for the visitors followed three minutes later by a Jack Pounder header. Action from both sides continued till the 65th minute when Taylor got his hat-trick making it 0-6 to Horden. Six minutes later Scott Henderson made it seven and within a few minutes Fowler got his second and C.Ws eighth and there was still time for substitute Henderson to get his hat-trick, completing the rout on 81 and 83 minutes. In the final minute of the game Whickham were through with a definite goalscoring chance but Chris Noble, in goal for Horden, pulled off a magnificent save to maintain a clean sheet.
It was an exceptionally good all round performance by the whole team. Mention must be made of the superb assists by Martin Fowler (4), Jack Pounder (2), Rob Taylor (2) Les Abernethy and Man Of The Match Graham Lilley.
